The deceased ia a man about 35 years of age r of fair complexion. There was a severe cut over the left eye. The body has not been long in the water. A proposal has been made- for the northern A. and P. Association to hold an autumn show, bat a general meeting of the association' decided that the spring show be held as usual and tshat an autumn show be held eighteen months hence, the feeling being that the show next year would not be a success after the jubilee celebrations. Invercargjll, Last night. Following his decision in the Lake county, Mr McCarthy,- S.M., chairman of the Invereargill Licensing Committee, to-day refused a conditional license to a sports committee. In reply to telegrams from the Christchurch and Wellington associations, the Auckland Cricket Association has decided to reply that the dates originally chosen for the matches could not, owing to the time at the disposal of the Auckland team, be altered. A two-&torey house at Mount Albert, owned by Mr H. F. Knight, was destroyed by fire this morning. Practically nothing was saved. The house was insured for £510, and the furniture for £350 in the Manchester.
