The Japanese Minister at Pekin on July 26 reported the suspension of hostilities, due to Tung-fuh-siang's departure for Peitsang, a few miles to the north-west of Tientsin, where a large Chinese force is gathered to resist the advance of the allies. The Japanese Consul at Shanghai was informed on tbe sth inst. that General Tung-fuh-siang had stopped the supply of provisions to the Legations.
