AN EXPENSIVE BRIDGE.

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Last night. Mr Blow, Under-Secretary for Public Works, who has just returned from a visit to the works on the North Island trunk railway, reports that very satisfactory progress i 8 being made with the Makohine viaduct, and with the formation as far as Paengaroa, 26 miles beyond. The men employed on the bridge are engaged upon it fiom dawn till dusk, and ihe days lengthen the progress of the .structure will increase proportionately. This bridge will be much the highest in Australasia. It is expected that the viaduct will be completed within a year from date, and the cost is roughly esti/"jnated at £50,000.
