ANOTHER MONARCH IN DANGER.

Attempt on the Shah's Life.

Assailant Captured by the Police.

A Warning.

United Press Association. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. (Received Aug. 4, 9.10 a.m.) London, Aug. 3. An attempt was made in Paris to assassinate the Shah of Persia, who is touring Europe. As he was leaving the city a man rushed at the Shah's carriage and pointing a revolver at the Persian monarch shouted " Long live tha children of the poor man." The Shah was accompanied by his Grand Vizier, who, showing great presence of mind, grasped the revolver, whilst the police and a cyclist seized the assailant, who proved to be a French southerner or Italian. An accomplice who was seen urging the man on, decamped. A letter received from Naples warned the Shah that an attempt was to be made on his life. (Received Aug. 4, 10.30 a.m.) London, Aug 3. The Parisian police are unable to identify the Shah's assailant. The present Shah of Persia, Muzaffer-el-Din, succeeded to the throne on the death of his father, Nasr-ed-Din (who was shot by an assassin in the mosque of Shah Abdul Azim, near Teheran, in May, 1896), on June Bth, 1896. He was born in 1853.
