AUSTRALIAN RESERVES.

In reference to Lord Brassey's proposal re Australian reserves, Mr M'Lean, Premier, considers the loyalty of the colonies such as to readily ensure help whenever the Empire requires, without the expense of keeping a standing army. Such help best secured the means of obtaining citizen soldiery trained to ride and shoot.
