DAIRY ASSOCIATION.

Stratford, This day,

The National Dairy Association met jffesterday. The business of the morning was mostly of an executive nature.

Mr Harkness was in the chair and was again re-elected president. Resolutions were passed as follows :—

A motion practically debarring exporters from buying produce of factories not belonging to the association. Asking the Minister to pass legislation to relieve co-operative dairies of income tax.

That in the opinion of the meeting it is de&irable that dairy produce for exportation should be sent direct from the factory to the cool storage at Wellington, That the attention of the Minister of Agriculture be called to the fact that several co-operative dairy factories have already paid income tax on last year's returns, and if the Land and Income Tax Department declined to refund, that he be lequeated to place a sufficient sum on the supplementary estimates to recoup the dairy companies the amount paid to the Income Tax Department.

That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the Hon. Mr Duncan.

That the association desire to place on record their appreciation of the work done by the Government on behalf of the dairy industry in the colony, and in this connection especially wish to express their thanks to Mr J. D. Ritchie, Secretary of Agriculture, for the manner in which he has taken in hand the initiative work of instruction, grading, freezing, and general improvements of our products.

Addresses were delivered by Mr McEwan on "Our Markets," by MiLang on "Inspection of Sheds and Herds," aud by Mr McGowan on "Dairy Equipment."

The executive were entertained at a banquet in the evening by the Stratford Chamber of Commerce. The meeting recommended the holding of the next annual meeting at Valmerston North.
