THE RELIEF OF COOMASSIE.

(Received July 25, 9.15 a.m.) London, July 24. Details of the relief of Coomassie show that Lieutenant-Colonel Willcocks deceived the Ashantees with regard to his route.
Hard fighting took place on the 14th and 15th July at Zaurba. The native soldiers gallantly stormed the tribesmen's stockades and used the bayonet with effect. They destroyed the Ashantee camp and killed many of the enemy.
The Ooomassie garrison , were so enfeebled when relieved that they had to be removed to Famsu in hammocks.
