Cricket Council regarding a sum of _£7 10s, part refund of guarantee due to the Hawke's Bay body, |the association's delegate to be also communicated with ■on the subject.—The Taradale Club were declared the winners of last season's Wednesday competition.—Other formal lusiness was transacted, various matters discussed bearing upon future prospects, and the meeting adjourned.

The committee of the Hawke's Bay Kennel and Poultry Club met at the Masonic Hotel last night to make further arrangements in connection with their forthcoming show, to be held on August 7th and Bth. The secretary reported that up to date seventy-seven members had paid their subscriptions, and he requested unfioancial members to assist the committee by forwarding their subscriptions early. The offer of the Christchurch Poultry Club was accepted for the hire of poultry and pigeon pens, and that of the Wellington Kern.el Club for benches and divisious. The special prize for greyhound dogs, open clas", was increased in value to 30s. The entries received to date are over double the number received for last year's show at _so early a date. The secretary, however, •wishes to impress on intending exhibitors that no entries will be received after 9.30 on Saturday evening at the Masonic _lotel.

A quiet but very pretty wedding took _>lace this afternoon in St. Patrick's Ohurch, the occasion being the marriage of Miss Isabella Durney, daughter of our respected townsman, Mr T. Dumey, to Mr James Richard Fahey, now of Napier, but formerly of Dunedin. The bride •was attired in a handsome dress of cream -corduroy, with silk, lace, and pearl trimmings, finished with true-lover's knots. She wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beauiiful -shower bouquet. The bride was attended ~foy three bridesmaids, Miss Durney (sister of the bride), Miss Kenny, and Miss 0. Durney (niece of the bride), who carried handsome bouquets, all of which, ag well as the bride' 6, were from the Jhands of the well-known florist Mr Theakstone. The bridegroom was attended by Mr D. Gibson, of Queensland, _as best man. The bridesmaids all wore bandsome gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom. The happy couple left the church amidst a shower of rice and many good wishes. The wedding presents were both numerous and costly.
