CARNAGE AT TIENTSIN.
Chinese Troops Behave Gallantly. Charge to the Bayonet Point. (Received July 21, 9.20 a.m.) London, July 20 The correspondent of the Daily Mail at Chefoo states that the Chinese, in the assault on Tientsin, stood up to a perfect hail of bullets from the allies.
There was great carnage among the Chinese, the dead bodies being piled up breast high. The Chinese boldly charged up to the bayonets of the Sikhs, but were repulsed.
