Awful Atrocities.
Women Stripped and Hacked to Pieces. Children Carried on Spear Heads. (Received July 21, 8.20 a.m.) London, July 20. A Chinese merchant of repute was an eye witness of the massacre of Europeans at Pekin. He told the Shanghai correspondent of the Express that the Boxers stripped the women in the streets, hacked them to pieces, and dismembered them, while some of the soldiers carried the children on spear heads, their comrades shooting at the corpses.
