The German loss at Tientsin on the 13th was small, due to the rapid advance and quick rushes. The native city was looted and burned before the allies entered it.
The Germans apportion the largest share of the victory to the Japanese, and credit the Russians with a share in the capture of twelve guns in the north-east.
The commanders are mutually complimentary, and quote each other in testimony". They are now avoiding self-praise, and fostering goodwill and harmony. The Japanese wounded at Tientsin numbered 270. The Japanese claim that they bombarded and captured the naval barracks of the enemy after the citadel of the native city had fallen, and that they captured eighty cannon, including" sixteen of the most modem manufacture.
