PATRIOTIC FUND.
[FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Last night.
At a meeting of the organising committee of the patriotic fund, to consider proposals of the Premier to pool the patriotic funds of the colony, and administer them from a central source, it was resolved that this meeting views with alarm the proposal of the Govern" l ment to pool the funds now in the hands of the treasurers and committees, and administer in the manner suggested. They are satisfied that the great majority of donors to the fund would prefer that the Otago fund bo administered locally, and for the benefit of the local men, who have a claim upon it. They therefore are strongly opposed to any legislation on the subject, and urge every Otago and Southland member of Parliament to see that the Otage fuuds are left in the hands of the Otago people, for the benefit of invalided members of the various contingents hailing from Otago aud Southland, and those dependent on them. Copies are to be sent to the Premier, M's.H.R., and the Mayors.
