The Royal Irish Rifles, West Australians, and Vaughan's New Zealanders on Monday gallantly repulsed the enemy, who made repeated and determined attacks on General PoleCare w's position near Pretoria. Seven British were killed, including Lieutenant Barden, son of a Canadian Minister. He was twice mentioned in despatches for his intrepidity. Lieutenant Findlay, of New Zealand, was severely wounded. Captain L. Bourse and Lieutenant Cameron, New Zealanders, are ingTwenty of the Irish. Rifles and others are missing. Twenty-six were wounded. The Boers' losses were fifteen killed and fifty wounded, and four were captured.
