Lord Hopetoun has received hundreds of congratulations from all parts of the world and from all classes in Australia on his appointment as Governor-General of the Commonwealth. He is gratified at the satisfaction expressed at his appointment. He will leave Marseilles on October sth, and proceeds to Bombay, making a short stay in India, en route to Australia. Sydney, This day. Sir "VV. Lyne will probably introduce a bill this session to prevent any member of the State Parliament also holding a seat on the Federal Parliament.
