The Victorian Commandant and the military head of Queensland cordially approve and regard as quite possible Major-General French's scheme of war reserves. The South Australian Commandant will issue his decision as soon as Western Australia's decision is known. Federation will come into being on January Ist. The West Australian representative is not picked. The seventh post is likely to go to New South Wales, either Sir W. Lyne or Mr Wise.
