MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.

Wellington, This day. At the Municipal Conference this morning it was resolved as follows : — That recommendation be made that the Rating Act be amended to give a council power to recover 10 per cent interest, and unpaid rates to become a lien on the property. That legislative power be given to borough councils to cut down streels perpendicularly at the boundary, and cast the onus of retaining walls on the pre-psrty-holder. That meat exporters be allowed to slaughter stock for export and sale in their own shops only, compensation to be paid to owners of slaughterhouses which must be closed or not fully used.
That local bodies be enabled to recover the costs of cleansing horses, buildings, and private streets from owners, and that hospital boards should be obliged to erect additional hospitals 'and buildings when required in a district where an epidemic is raging. A number of proposed bills were approved with slight amendment.
