The strong easterly wind whioh set in yesterday brought in a nasty eea making lighterage work hazardous. _ The barque Norman fcoLeod is sh'l in the roadstead waiting for a favorable breeze to aail for London. The UO. Bβ. Omapere left Auckland last night with 80 tons of oargo for thie port. She calls at Tauranga, Fast Coast bays, and Gisborne, and iB due on Baturday The U.O; sa. Tβ Anau, Captain Berneoh, got rid of her cargo (80 tons) in good time, at the breakwater yesterday, notwithstanding the heavy showers of rain. She took on board a small quantity of eandiies, and the outgoing passengers at 8 p.m , resuming her voyage northwards Shortly afterwards. There was no cign o' the U.O. 8 b. Kawatiri due from Westport this morning, when our report left the Bpit. No doubt the heavy weather is detaining her. The unsettled weather ia detaining loading operations on the a.s. Devon, now in the roadstead. She has yet to take in four lighter loadu of frozen meat. Should the weather dear a little, she will finish loading and leave fo: London via Wellington toninht. The b s Te Kapu left for Wairoa at midnight with paesengerß and oargo. She managed to get into the river this morning, but almost immediately afterwards the river mouth olosed, so that the small steamer is now blocked in. ... _~ The lighter Trusty had nor nuzenmaet oarried »way yesterday when alongside the s.B. Devon. The aooident was oaused by a wire rope fouling the mast.
