Captain Holla reports huving met the full force of the gale when oloae to the port on Friday night, whioh necessitated his putting further to sea. Ihe Ohau had a deok load of rams on board. Great anxiety was felt for the safety of the animals, and it was thought at times, when the sea was at ita height, that some of them would be washed overboard. On arrival it was ascertained that the whole of the stook (with the exception of one ram, whioh died jnat after landing) were in good order. Too much praise cannot be given to Capt. Bolls. Owing to the bad weather to-day, the whole of the Ohau's oargo oould not be landed. She discharges the balanoe to-morrow, and leaves lor Westport. Ihe U.O. s.s. Xβ Anau, due from north . early this morning, did not put in an appearance. News from Gisborne states that f .ehe did not arrive at that port till 6 o'oiook this morcincr, leaving again at 9a m. She is due about 5 o'oiook this evening, and will be tendered by the Ahnriri at the above j hoar, taking off the outward passengers and landing the inward passengers, mails, i and oargo the same trip. The Tβ Anau resumes her voyage south later in tho even- j , ing. : ihe U.C. B.s Waroatea is posted up as having left Westport for Napier early ; yesterday morning. She is expected tomorrow morning. The Sβ. Fiado left Newoastle on Saturday, 23rd alt., for Hupier, with a load of about 1000 tone of coal, 500 tons for the Napier Gas Company, and 500 for Measrs Barry Broe. The veesel is consigned to j MeEfira Cranby and Co. The e.s. Miowera ie due at Sydney on , February 4th from Vancouver. I The [J.S.S. Co.'s s.b. Kakanoa, from Oaloutta, is due at Auokland about 23id February. The brigantine Lady Mabel, from Nβpier, arrived at Kaipara on the 26th January.
