There ia now no doubt the braakwater has been considerably damaged, but it w atill impossible to say pteciaoly to what extent One or more of the monoliths has or have been destroyed, and the damage eeema to be principally confined to those parts of the structure not yet protected by the apron now being formed. The curve, which has to bear the greatest force of seas from the gouth-east, was uninjured, the apron effectually breaking up the heavy rollers into spray before they reaohed tha main structure.
