VESSELS IN PORT.
Auokland, ship Baugitibei, barque Sir John Franklin, barquentine Waiapu, schooner
Shipping work was entirely suspended at the port to-day, owing to the heavy gale and tbe tremendous sea running in the bay. The s.s. Fanny leaves for Wellington as soon as the weather moderates, fcihe has etill a quantity of oargo to land. The U.O. as. iiotomahana, Captain Gibb, took in 45 tons of oarato (principally barley) yesterday evening, and left the breakwater at 7 p.m. It is doubtful if she would be able to work Gisborne thia morning, owing to the heavy gale and sea. The telegraphic communication ia interrupted, ao that no information oould be gleaned as to whether she communicated or not. The U.O. B.8»-Flora will ba a day late coming up the ooast, She arrives next Wednesday, and will leave for north the same day. The U.O. steamers Ohau and Dingadee, from Timaru and Wellington respectively, were duo last night. They have not yet put in an appearance. No doubt both masters have deemed it advisable to keep well outßide till the sea moderates. The Obau haa a deok load of sheep for this port, and it is feared they will Buffer aeverely. The Dingadee i 8 advertised to leave for north on Monday. The U.O. s.s. Te Anau is expected to arrive from northern ports early on Monday morning, fche leaves for south at noon. The two steamers Te Kapu and Pania are, we learn, in the Wairoa river, and will be detained there till the weather and eea permit their leaving.
