Bush fires are raging round the Hakotuku district, the timber being very dry find inflammable owing to the rocent long spell of flue hot weather. Messrs Gammon and Oo.'s sawmill at Oringi was pretty well surrounded by fire on Sunday. Dry logs on loth sides of the road were alight and burning briskly, and the wind carried the flames straight towards the mill.
