Chbistchobob,. Last night. At the afternoon sitting of the Women's Council Mrs Tasker read a paper on " Undeeirable Immigrants," and she moved — "That in the opinion of this GounoiT members os Parliament ehould be urged to support the Undesirable Immigrants Bill. , * A long discussion followed.
Lady fatout opposed the motion, aa sn© oonsidered Chinese desirable immigrants oa account of their honesty, sobriety, industry thrift, and kindness, aDd Mrs DaMythought it wonld not be just to discriminate againefc people of other nations. The motion was lost by five votes to Scar. Mrs Taskor moved, "That in the opinion, of thia Council the nation of New Zealand through its representatives, ehould reject the Japanese treaty." Ooneideration of tbe> motion was postponed. Mrs Williamson read a paper oe " Usea which the State aright make of women's services." A pape3f by the Bey.
