The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the total reserve to be £35,042,000,_ and the proportion of reserves to liabilities 59 - 88. Three montha' bills ara discounted at 9-16ths per cent. New Zealand frozen meat unchanged. The New Zealand hemp market ia quiet; 70 bahs sold at £15 10s per ton. The English wheat market is firm, the Continental dull, and the Americin chang- ' ing a shade for the worse. Colonial barley, not quotable. Oate, fine quality 24a 9d, common sorts 20a 6d. Beans. 27s 3d. The butter market is flat. Colonial, nominally BSs to 92s ; Danish, unchanged. Bugar, firm. German beet 12b 9d, Java 14s. No. 1 best Scotoh pig iron, f.o.b. in Clyde, 468 4ja. Silver, 2a 7d.
