The manager of tho Olerkenweil branoh of lilbiogton and -.'o, the woll-known jewellers, haa been arrested in connection with tho recent silver robbery. Soma mjOts have been found on his premises. Ootober 17. Mr Gerald Balfour, Chief Secretary for Ireland, speaking at Leeds, said that the Irish were tired of agitation, aud likely to 00-operate in reforms without abandoning their hope of Home Rule. Pabis, October 17. The French Government propose to spend a milliard (forty millions sterling) in twelve years on ironolads and cruisers.
