W. P. Woodlooh, cirous proprietor, presented himself at the Magistrate's Court this morning to answer three judgment eammon&ea preferred against him. by JVTr J . V. Brown (£4 19a), Messrs Waddell, M'Leod. and Weir, of Wellington (£4 lis 8d), and William Elliott, an emplojc (£4 17s). Messrs Sainabury, Luck, and Carnell appeared for the judgment creditors reapeotively. Under examination, the debtor said he was totally unable to meet the debts at present, but he hoped to be able to do so out of the Gisborne season, for which he had received a guarantee. He oomplained of very bad treatment iv this diatriot, and he had been compelled to pawn everything he possessed of value in order to pay his way. Mr Turnbull, S M., ordered the debtor to pay the amounts forthwith, or seven days' imprisonment.

An old man named Joseph Leatham was charged before Mr Turnbull, S M , this morning that he did, oa the 17th inst, at Clive, steal a watch and chain, valued at £1 3a 6d, the property of J. Motlardy; and also an accordeon, worth £1 2s 6d, belonging to J_. Rowe. The accused pleaded not guilty, and on the application of Sergeant Mulviliohe waa remanded till next Thursday. David fopplewell, who waa in a very thaky condition as the outcome of injudicious indulgence in strong drink, was remanded for a week's medical treatment at the gaol.
