Ihe Speaker this afternoon read a letter from the Napier Harbor Board, inviting the members to be present at the'opening of the breakwater on Ootober 22nd.

Capt_in Russell hoped the Premier would enable members to attend the opening ceremony, as the breakwater was a work of national importance. The Premier replied, " Duty before pleasure." 'Iheir duty was to the country, and ho did not see how they oould accept the invitation. If Captain Russell would telegraph, asking them to postpone the ceremony till after the session was closed be would be happy to go to Napier, taking as many members with him as preferred going there to returning to their homes.

Mr Carnell asked the Premier to state when the sestion would oloae, as he believed the darbor Board would be willing to postpone the ceremony for a few days, but <!. r Seddon gave no intimation as to when Parliament would be over, simply moving that a vote of thanks be oonveyed to the Board. *
