TRAINING NOTES.
Despite a bitter cold morning, thero w_a a large attendance of visitor j and ownon on tho oour.e at Hastings this morning, inoiudiug owners and trainers from other nana. All tha work was done on the Baud track. Eliiugham wns the first out with Kip Van Wi-kle and Mcz.l, who wero sent four timos round at a useful paoo. Aphony, The Plug, Goosander, iSoscius, Blarney, and Ua followed. Langley the % .evil, whi possseses an outsido chance in the steeplechase, did three times round at half pace, going in good stylo, and improving with ereey gallop. Swivel went twice round _ta fair paco ; the old gelding seemed to relish his task. Egmont, So'.itair., and Tomb Jy did three circuits, the last time fuist, the Braoelet candidate moving vmy freely. Woodlander, who is furnishing into a nioe three-year-old, canttr.d twice round. Hopeful, Otaieri, _ud The Shearer did useful work. Mutiny and Oouranto were treated to long slow work. Both ■ are well forward. _ho former has many admirers both for the Hurdles and Steeplechase. Mystical aod Valetta accomplished three circuits, the last timo fast, Mr Gollan'e Bracelet oandinate having the best of the finish. Bombardier, who is looking well, did four times* round, _nd Norton and Lascar wero given strong work Unfortunate and Tiritea were content with slow pacing, but the latter does not require many winding up gallops King John pleased the touts over three circuits, and X. '-lose and Welcome Wat did similar exercise, tbe laßt time fast, both finishing well together. Nightshade, Double, Elaine IT , Tally-ho, Marechal Neil did slow work. Liberator wa* sent three times round. The Betrayer gelding looks a mass of condition, and thore are more unlikely things that he will follow up his Auckland victories by appropriating the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase.
