Death of Mr E.W. Morrah.
[FEB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, This day,
Mr E. W. Morrah, Inspector of the Bank of Australasia, died rather suddenly this morning
Later. The cause of Mr Morrah's death was ailure of the heart's action. He had been complaining of late of reeling unwell, but attributed it to the hot weather, and thought very little of it. He went to his bathroom as usual at eight o'clock this morning, turned on the water, and, as was his custom, returned to the bedroom and lay down for a few moments until the bath filled, but sjon after he gained the bed he gasped and expired. He had always enjoyed excellent health, and it was his boast that he had never been laid up in his life. He had been forty-two years in the service of the bank, having joined it in Victoria in 1851, and for the last eighteen years had been inspector for New Zealand. He leaves a wife and thirteen ohildren, most of whom are grown up. In accordance with the bank's rules, he should have retired some years ago, but at the request of the directors, who recognised his great ability, he remained.in the service. He was 64 year* of age.
