The Napier Dislriot School Committee met last night. Presout-Dr. Innes (chair), Messrs T. Murphy, T. Exeter, B. Moody, *L. Stead, J. Haliam, J. Neilsen, and J. Barrett.

From secretary Education Board, re election. The committee's vote should not .embrace more than three names.—Reoeived. —-From H. P. Cohen, thanking the committee for nominating him for a Beat on the Education Board. It was not his intention -to stand, but the Napier committee having nominated him, there oame an angry controversy in the .papers, when some very larsh and nntrue statements were made •concerning him. Consequently, m the face .of that, and as he did not wish to show the .white feather, he intended to oontest the -election. He therefore hoped the committee •would further support him with their vote. —Received. . From F. Sutton, requesting the committee's support for the Education Board .election. He had been a memoer sinoe the passing of the Education Aot, and had been •elected six times to that position It had been to his greaf "satisfaction that he had ""-■ been able to assist in the working of a €VBtem which had given great advantages to the young, and he thought it could be claimed for the Education Board of this district that it had efficiently carried out its important duties. It had alwajs been the Tvish of the Board that the Act should be fairly administered, and with the exception ~N of one or two committees, who held tha! V-" they, who in most oasas have had little experience in education, were better aYe to direct educational affairs than the Board, its officers, and the department, it had •given satisfaction to the district.—Received.
