Me 0. F. Worth will be opposed by Mr H. D. Bell at the election for the office of Mayor of Wellington. Mr Worthi was a resident of Napier for a few years, and very soon after his arrival pushed his way to the front. He was elected president of the Working Men's Club, and then, joining the ranks of the Liberals, became a shining light in political circles. When Joe Ivess •was put up to represent Napier, in opposition to Mr Ortnond, it was Mr Worth who was selected to do the honors of nomination. The defeat of the Liberals seemed to leave Mr Worth without an object, and he, took up his abode at Wellington. He was not there very long before he got elected to the Municipal Council, and the height of his ambition appears at present to be the Mayoralty, though with a man of his character'it is impossible to say where his ambition would stop. Mr Worth, we believe, is not one the wealthiest of Wellington's citizens, and those good people cherish the idea that their Mayor should be in a position to spend freely out of his private purse to do civic hospitality to distinguished visitors. Hence, in all probability, Mr Worth's merits will pale before the golden sovereigns of Mr H. D. Bell.
