The barque Godfrey, timber laden from Sail Francisco to Melbourne was wrecked near Lome, the crew was rescued. The extra cbar«e of a penny a dozen for evening paper* has caused the newsboys to strike. They have taken active means to prevent others from selling, with the result that very few were sold in the streets. Forces of police guarded the newspaper offices armed with whips.

A small force of police and military arrested the ringleaders of the shearing rioters. The Central Trade Council have made a general call out for the 16th instant. It is stated that the railway men, and the town unionists are exempt", but it will not be surprising if they also" are called out.
