To Kami returned from tho Wairoa on Saturday nipbt. She _ leaves again for Wairoa and Whafkaki to-night. The s.s. Omapere steamed for Westport direct on Saturday night. The Union Company's s.s. Te Anau, Uaptain C. W. Todd, arrived from Sydney via Auckland and Giaborne at 5.30 a.m. yestorday. She was tendered by tho Ahuriri at 6 a.m., and this steamer took off the outward passengers at 10 a.m. Tho Te Anau steamed for Wellington at noon. The s.s. Weka made a trial trip to-day. She seemed to bo going well. The barquentime Rio has cleared at the customs for Newcastle. She goes in ballast. The Now Zealand Shipping Company's R.M.S. Rnapelm arrived from Wellington early yesterday morning. She comes hero to load frozeii meat from Messrs Noleon Brothers' works, and will tako about 10,000 carcasses besics 2,500 baled wool. Tho Ruapohu is commanded by Captain E. A. Findhy, R.N.R. Her staff of officors consist of tho following gentlemen:-Chief„ Mr Forbes; second, Mr Clifford ; third, Mr Kiddel (lata fourth of tho Kaikoura); fourth, Mr Dolman ; surgoon, Dr Hlslop; purser, Mr Pickett (late of several of the company's steamers). Mr Murray is chief steward. The engineroom is in charge of Mr Simpson, who has with bim Mr Murray as second, Mr Niool as third, and Mr Greenstroet as fourth.
