The Hastings Fire Brigade held a mreting on Tuesday. A matter of groat importance both to the Brigade and the public was discussed, the result of which will soon be made public.

Arrangements to enjoy the holiday next Monday seem plentiful. It is to be hoped the weather won't break. Locally tbe principal attraction seems to be the Catholic picnic aud sports at the Willow pah, which is a pleasant spot about, three aud a-half miles from town. Most of tho vehicles in town have been laid undo r contribution for it The children will be provided for fr st, of course ; after that the traps, &c , will be at tho service of the parishioners and their friends.
