The Australian system of voting was adopted for the elections. la several of the States it was thought, to be a slow method of takinir a poll, and there was some difficulty in working it. The Democratic party carried many of the Republican seats, and they have gained heavily throughout, the States. Mr MoKinley was defeated for Ohio, despite lavish expenditure.
