The direot - mail services-..,- have been arranged so far as th-. Imperial Government is conoerned. A strong feffort.was made by the Imperial Government to'get tbe New Zealand Government' to have .the rate by Brindisi reduced to 2j'_,jßo,__at there would be _,_niv___al rate'ol 2Jd'ln Jorce, 'but-the New,; --.aland Government pointed out that" the redu.tion could not bo made without the'consent of FarUament, and also reminded .the Home authoriti-S that the; Brindisi rate had already, been reduced from 1b C,6d. The N6w Zealand Government promised to bring the question of a further reduotion to tinder the consideration of Parliament when; it next met, and the Imperial authorities expressed themselves satisfied with this undertaking; therefore the resolutions as passed by the House last sea-ion have' been virtually "agreed to by the Imperial Government. ■*•■**
Per A-ra-igiNeal and Close have received a choice assortment of ladies' Bunjshades; also, a choice lot of infants' millinery. Inspection invited. ' j
