The sohoouer Marmion sailed for Mercury Bay this morning. The s.s. Fanny went down tho coast this morning. The s.s. Kahu arrived from Wellington at 12.30 a.m. to-day. Mr Huggins, tho chief officer, leaves* her hero this trip to take a position ou shore. The Kahu leaves for Wellington at 3.30 p.m. There was no sign of the Kiwi when our report left tho Spit The brignntine Enterprise is loading at the Bluff for Napier direct. Sho will hnng a cargo of oats for Messrs Ellison and Duncan. The schooner Dunedin, now on her way from Timaru to Napier, is windbound at Akaroa.

The schooner Spray is now on her way up frorn_Timnru with a cargo of flour. The ketch Comet will load timber here for Dunedin. , The schooner Orpheus is expected from Auckland shortly with a cargo of coals for Messrs Cranby and Prebbte. The departure of the s.s. Te Kapu for Wairoa had to be postponed till to-nigbt. The captain of the Kahu is certain that the wreckage found at tho Chathams belonged to the barque Assaye. Apropos of this, somo would-be mariners at the Spit contend that the goods found thero could not be part of the Assayo's cargo, as the vessel would not so anywhere near tho Islands, but they "forget that tho barque may have got into trouble hundreds of miles away, and her remains drifted on to tho Chathams.

As some confusion appears to exist as to tho personality of the several Captains Roberts who have traded to this port, it is as well to state that Oaptain Arthur F. Roberts, who is now supposed to be lost in the missing Shaw-Savill liner Dunedin, at One time commanded the ship Trevelyan, which was lost near Cape Agulhas on the first vovajro which Captain W. Roborts (son of Captain D. T. Roberts, well known in the Hermione for many years) made after he had been appointed to her command. Captain Arthur Robers has v son who is sailing as a master, but ho has not traded with this colony recently. — Auckland Herald. Tbe Waihora and Tekapo left Sydnoy for New Zealand yesterday. Tho Monowai left Lyttolton yestorday for Melbourno and southern ports with the following passengers:—Mesdames Lawrence and Pottinger; Misses Moves, Alexander, and Palmer; Messrs. Holmes, Maberley, Oakley, Harris, Caro, Austin, Bladeston, Poteman, and Holmes.

MOVEMENTS OF UNION COMPANY'S STEAMERS.

The Warcatoa is duo from Westport via Wellington this afternoon. She brings a quantity of coals for the tras works, and ■will loud 100 cattlo hero for Lyttelton, leaving for that port to-morrow. Tho Tarawera is due from the south tomorrow. Tho Ahuriri takes off tho outward passengers at 5 pm. The Australia arrives from northern ports early on Sunday morning and leaves for Wellington on Monday. On arrival at Wellington she will probably bo docked, takinff up the Southern Cross's running the following week. Tho latter vessel will also bo docked on her return to Wellington. The s.s. Wakatipu arrives from the north on Monday morning. Tho Ahuriri takes off the outward passengers at 10 a.m.
