An informal meeting of the City Council wascalled to-day by the Mayor in connection with declaring Tuesday a publio holiday. Tho Mayor was absent through illness. It had since come to the knowledgo of tho Mayor that Tuesday would be observed as a holiday by tho tradesmen and merchants, and he would like the Council's opinion.
