The N.Z. Shipping Company's ship Piako from Port Dhalmors, rounded Kidnappers at 11.45 a.m. to-day, but shortly after was becalmed. The Piako is the first ship ot the season to load wool for tho Company at this port She wilt ho followed by tho Kangitikoi, now at Auckland, and sho again will be followed by tho chartered ship MachriThe barquentino Cuthona, Cnpt. Gifford, with a cargo of coal from Newcastle, arrived this forenoon after a passage of 23 days. The schooner Dunodin sailed yesterday afternoon with a cargo of timber for Lyttelton. The s.s. Kiwi left Wellington last night, and is duo hero this evening. She will return to Wellington to-morrow evening. The schooner Opotiki sailed for Gisborne this morning with timber. Tho Union Company's s.s. Waihora arrived at 3.lft p.m. to-day frJm northern ports. The Ahuriri takes off tho outward passengers at 7 p.m. The familiar colors of the Union Company were painted on the Janet Nicoll's funnel to-day as showing that sho is now the property of the Company, haying been purchased, not chartered, from Messrs Henderson and MoFarfane a few weeks ago. She steams for Sydney to-morrow with about 7,500 sacks potatoes. The barquo Poly carp has arrived at London from Wellington. The Wairarapa left Lyttelton yesterday with tho following passengers on board :— Messrs Kenneth, Wilson, Relly, Tenfolt, and Skilmer.

The Taieri, which left Lyttelton for Wellington and Calcutta yesterday, takes 148 horses for India and a number of dogs for the Caloutta market.
