[PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.-—COPYBiaHT.] Melbourne, October 7. At, Caulfield this morning Abacus did a good mile and seveu furlongs. Churchill finished behind Meltonian in a milo and o half gallop. Ivy boat Benzon over the same distance, which was traversed in 2min 471 sec. Leopold and Cuirassier did a good nine furlongs, tho former moving speoially well. Singapore was backed for a few thousands to-day at 100 to 7, and 100 to S is now the best offer. Insignia has been scratched for both Cups, and Daniel for the Melbourne Cup. (Receivod October 8, 12.30 p.m.) This day. This was a quiet morning at Flemington. Being an off morning, only light tasks wore indulged in. Whirnbirel was not in evidence, and had probably gone to Caulfield. Titan, Tantallon, Carbine, Megaphone, Carrington, Gibraltar, and Sodium {the latter a Maribyrong Plater) are in great
heart.
