Mr James Brown, of Wakanui, is m_ulioned as a probablo candidate for tho Ashburton seat in opposition to Mr W. C. Walker, who has represented the district in the previous two Parliaments.

Messrs W. B. Perceval aud R. M. Taylor announce that thoy aro candidates at tho general election for tho City oi Christchurch.

Mr J. Sharp will bo a candidate for Nelson.

At a meeting at Newmarket, Auckland, Of the electors of Parnell called to form a political association for tho coming elections, a resolution was passed roconimondiiig the immediate repeal of the property tax aud tho substitution therefor of a tax of one per cent, upon tho unimproved value 0c land. It was also recommended that a court of arbitration bo instituted to settle l.;bor disputes, that, the present system of education bo maintained in its integrity, that the Government issue a uniform series of school books, and that tho Government be requested to advertise largely that waste lands of the Crown can be had on free selection and ou perpetual lease.

Dr. Newman is announced as a candidate for the Hutt seat, in opposition to Messrs Izard and London.

Mr J. D. Lauce announces himself as a caudidate for tho Ashlev seat.
