At tho Licensing Committee meeting at Petane to-day tho transfer of the Petaua Hotel from Thomas Bell to W. Ellingham was granted. A letter was received from several settlers of tho district complaining that tho Kcmini Hotel being rarely used by the travelling public its license might be refused. The"Committee instructed the clerk to write and inform the petitioners that the license had been renewed at the annual meeting f<>r tbo twelve mouths, on condition that the house should be thoroughly renovated, and unless this was complied with the renewal of the license would be refused ; should the house bo renovated then the writers would have to object at the next annual meeting and show why tho license should be; refused.
