WOODVILLE FARMERS' CLUB.

At a meeting of the farmers' club last night representatives wore present from the following freezing companies: — North British, Messrs. Nelson Bros. Gear Company, Wellington Meat Export Company, and tho Longburn Company. The representatives laid before tho farmers particulars of the different companies, the representatives of Messrs. Nelson Bros., stating that the firm intended establishing works here. The president, Mr G. D. Haraitton, read a pat>er on sheep farming on five hundred acres. Mr J. Troup read a paper showing increase of stock exported from the district, and that this year's exports were double that of last season. He estimated that about 78,000 head of stock would bo availablo for export in tho coming season. A committee was appointed to interview tho Railway Commissioners and tho Manawatu Company as to a reduction of rates, and to interview the Government as to the abolition of the tolls in the Manawatu Gorgo ; also the Kiwitea Road Board as to the opening of the Pohangina road on the west side of the Ruahine range. It was also deoided to obtain poisoned grain for distribution among tho farmers with a view to reducing tho small bird nuisance.
