The no-confidenoo motion came to an abrupt termination yesterday afternoon. It died. Nobody took any interest in it; the eventual result of a division upon it was known, and consequently members could not be got either to listen to the speeches or talk themselves. When the _ debato came to a sudden stop and the motion was put, there were only seventy mombers out of ninety-five in tho House. The absence of twenty-five members showod what interest was beinjj taken in the mattor. Undor the circumstances it was fortunate there happened to be present a majority of six in favor of the Government, but it might easily have been the other way about, although the Opposition Whips acknowledge that Ministerial supporters outnumber the other side by eleven. Notwithstanding their defeat the Opposition members are not prepared to settle down to work. No sooner had tho Speaker announoed that Mr Ballance'e motion of want-of-confidonce was lost, than Mr Fish moved that the House go into Committee of Supply. On this motion everyone can speak, and no doubt full advantage will be taken of it to delay public business. It will be a real blessing to the colony when tiie next elections will send twenty-one of those clattor-boxos into eternal political oblivion.
