The Jlocal Committee in connection with the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition are bestirring themselves to mako the Hawke's Bay court worthy of tho district. Mr. A. Hamilton, who pnweeded to Dunedm last Saturday, has been instructed to make arrangement*, if possible, with Mr. Hibble, of Sydney, with a vieAV to the decoration of tho court. Mr. Hibble, it will be remembered, is the gentleman we mentioned recently as having been twnt down by the New South Wales Commissioners with a staff of deooirative artists. If Mr. Hibble s other engagements will pei-mit, and if his charges are not too high, Mr. Hamilton has authority to secure his services. The question just at present with the local Committee is, Where is the money? Wo understand that only about £50 have been subscribed, or promised, and it is needless to say that a sum of thai amount is not nearly sufficient. Up to the present the general public have not ehown much anxiety to press subscriptions on the Committee, but there are others in this community whose interest it is that the H'awke's Bay court should bo second to none }v the Exhibition. From these the Committee .have the right to expect handsome contributions to the fund. The Committee hnvo no personal ends to serve by taking , upon themselves the work of advertising Hawke's Bay at this Show of the Southern Seas, and they are entitled to every support that can bo j?J ven them. It would be much to Ibe regretted if their labors are not successful want of funds, for if in that event thO

Hawke's Bay court presents an inferior appearance to its neighbors, a feeling of angry disappointment will be created here, while visitors from outside will naturally judge this district by what it has to show: at the Exhibition. !
