A family named Lister, comprising quitca number of children, left here on Thursday for Poverty Bay, to settle on some land acquired from Government on the perpetual lease system. Mr Lister is a carpenter, but work haying been scarce here for a long time ho had "but little to do. For some £15 a year he has between 300 aud 400 acres of good agricultural land about eight miles from Gisborne.

A eouplo of rabbits are reported to have bfen seen on tho Peri Peri flat, between Danevirke and Matamau.

I am told that Mr Rutbbono expects to get on an average one pound of wool extra per fleece this season, owing to improved feeding and tending , his sheop. Many have been fed on rape during tho winter, and nre now hardly üble to carry their own coats, so heavy aro they, requiring great care and watchfulness lo keep them on their feet. Such au increase on 50,000 sheep amounts to 25 tons more wool, which at the moderate rate of 8d means £2000. and T sincerely hope the conjecture will prove correct.
