The School Committee met yesterday at noon, when were present Messrs. Annaiid (chair), Arrow, Bennett, and Rev. J. C. Kcules, bon. sec.—The head master reported that the highest attendance for the last four weeks had been 210, 210, 19-1 and 207.

Ho had received £-5 _s— as stationery fees, and had paid it in to the bank. He enclosed a list showing who had and had not paid, the latter amounting to £9 12s.—The following accounts were passed for payment: —Mitchell and Stafford £2, J. A. Drummond 10s, W. Rathbone £2 los 9d, Mail, £1 10s lid, W. H. Bennett, £1 0s 6d. Several matters v ere left over for a fuller meeting of the committee. The Waipawa Town Board met last night, when were present Messrs Bibby (chairman), Bennett, Collett, and Harker.—A letter from Mr Gilmour stated that he had

—Mr. Harker: I havo no thing to do with sucking him ; I did'nt appoint him,—Tho Chairman suggested that il would bo better to discuss this subject in committee.—Mr. Bennett, for the Works Committeo, reported that they had come to the conclusion that the be .t way of draining the houses on east sido of the main street was to put a drain pipe along tbe line. —Mr. Harker objected to this, believing in the drain being in the centre of the street, so that persons could drain into it from both sides.— -On tho motion of Messrs Collett and Bennett, it wss resolved that Mr. Gilmour be requested to report on the cost of putting a six-inch drain from Williams's to the Bank ; also that he lay out a footpath from Flynn's to the corner of WaverJey street, and put a culvert near Dr. Todd's. —Mr Harker wanted a permanent plan for a drain, for which £300 had been borrowed. The other members said the money would not do us far as from there to the Empire—Tho letter of the trustees of tho Fire Brigade was again read. —The Chairman said thoy were without iunds, but it would havo to be done .sooner or later.—Mr Bennett suggested paying
