HAWKE'S BAY V. OTAGO.
THE FORMER SEVERELY DEFEATED.
The umtch between Otago and Hawke's Bay took place on the Carisbrook (.round, Dunedin, yesterday, aud resulted in the most crushing defeat of the visiting team by sixteen points to nothing. Our Dunedin correspondent says:—"Tho game was the most hollow over seen here. The visitors unquestionably missed the service! of tho two men who stood out, but are far too light to cope with such a heavy team of forwards as Otago put in the field. Had any of the chances of place kicking been availed of, the score must have been increased by half-a-dozen points The Otago men at all points showed they had profited by Saturday's lesson. Their passing in tho second spell was particularly good. For the visitors Taku and Wi Duncan played sterling games." Tho Hawke's Bay team return to Christchurch to-day, and will play the natives to-morrow.
