LAST WEEK I casually remarked that Speight and Co. brewed good beer, their irrepressible traveller called upon mo yesterday with a sample, and whilo we wero discussing it he told me that ho had once brewed in Egypt, and that the beer ho produced was of such an excellent quality that it would cure all the ills that flesh is heir to. Ouo warm day a glass of this beer was forced down the throat of a '•mummy" threo thousand years old. The effect was extraordinary. The mummy came to life, opened his lips, and gasped out "more, more." Moro beer was given to him, and ho camo round so entirely that ho went out into the street and was arrested for being "drunk and disorderly." I reached back for tho blunderbuss which always stands in tho corner of our editorial sanctorum, but before I succeeded in cocking it, this veracious " Egyptian brewer" had decamped.
