Prom Porangahau Road Board, forwarding estimates for expenditure of deferred thirds.—Tho Chairman said tho estimates appeared fair, and he brought before the Board a draft of his proposals, and the estimates would be approved of subject to the Road Board actintr on the chairman's

proposals.—Agreed to. From Norsewood Road Board, on the same subject.—Approved. From Wairoa County Council, applying for a renc Mil of the lease to occupy a timber reserve of 1000 acres in the Taratnarama survey district.—The Chairman said the Board did not know what 'quantity of timber the Council desired to take, now or in the future, and it was decided tllftt the Council be written to informJßjf thorn the Board agreed to the cutting of timber, but that a royalty was to bo charged, and the fee arranged upau, but that further information vac desired. From same, applying for a cemetery reservo.—The Chairman did not think the Board would bo able to grant tho reserve right off, because the surveys were defective, and he would have to send somebody up to furnish a deseripiion of it.—Chairman's sugff&ition to be acted on. From R. E. Stevens, applying to purchase fencing, timber from section 5, Block X., Taramarama district, a forest reserve. —The Chairman said they had no power to accept such a,n offer,, because the section was ponuauently reserved, aud hud therefore to be dealt with under the forest regulations. Dennis, applying ou behalf of himself and othore for permission to take posts from thoßotukukorauga block. —The Chairman stated that in reply to this letter he ■wrote to tho applicants informing them t&**t the Board bad no objection in granting leave to tako timber, only tiie difficulty was the sending up of Ro;nsbody to see how much timber wgs outj iiud to have some control ovpr iieiD. Dennis had written back to, him, atttfing that the block was in vainer a difficult part of the- «>ountry, aa<i asked that the matter miyhi stand over till Christmas time, and the Chairman thought that the shoirid be asked to pay down $, small guarantee, that they really iutonded to have the timber, and to cover the expense of sending somebody up there.—Chairman's suggestion approved of. From Mr Sohult/, owner of section '21 f Tautano Village Settlement, applying to be allowed to sukct sections 18 and '20. —Li connection with this matter clause U of the Laud Act Amendment provided for village lauds, other than those in respect to advances that had boei* made to selectors, to be selected under section ;i of the Laud Act i Amendment, 1887, namely, either for cash, deferred payment, or perpetual lease, and the Board was recommended by the Chairman to adv\Kt> the Governor to open the Tautaue Village Settlement on thoso terms. —Approved. Tho Chairman reported that sections 313 and part of '214 which the Board, had agreed at the lasi; meoting to offer for sale had been applied for by the Telegraph Department, and that the Government had diroctod that these should l«- reserved accordingly. That ' application had been reoeived to have a forfeited gracing run, Taramaraina, offered at auction. A declaration of loss of license waw put in by William Ryan, and issue of new one was applied for in terms of section 117, Land Act, 18&1.—Approved, Applications far def'en-ed payment transfern ;—H.
