A*;cKX,\Nrt, This day. Iv an action, the North Zealand Woollen Company v. A. D. Bennett, promoter and lute secretary, for the recovery of £'i7.'i Ms :id, alleged" wrongfully paid by him as secretary, Justice Gillies this morning gave judgment against .Bennett for the payment of io7_ l.ss Id, with costs. He felt it might be a hardship for the man to pay this out of his own pocket, but it was clear that the secretary of :i public company had not power to 'pledge the credit of the directors without their express authority in writing, which in this case they denied giving.
